ABOUT League One Playoff

League One, or otherwise known as the third tier of English football, is made up of 24 teams.

At the end of the season, the top two clubs are automatically promoted to the Championship while the next four teams battle it out in a play-off to determine who takes the third promotion spot.

Unlike other professional English leagues, League One has four relegation spots. This means that the fight to avoid the drop is often an incredibly dramatic spectacle which can have huge impact on future of clubs.
