ABOUT League One Qualification
The Scottish League One represents the third level of football in Scotland and is currently the home to ten clubs.
Champions of League One enjoy automatic promotion to the Championship. Meanwhile, clubs who finish in second, third and fourth enter a play-off at the end of the season to determine who will play in a two-legged tie against the team second-bottom from the Championship.
First, the third placed side takes on the fourth placed side, with the winner taking on the second placed club in the play-off final.
If the League One play-off winner manages to beat Championship’s second-bottom side, then it also enjoys promotion to the second tier.
The same system applies between the League One and League Two. The side which finishes tenth in League One is automatically relegated and replaced by the champions of League Two.
Meanwhile, the second, third and fourth best sides from League Two compete in a play-off before the winner takes on the ninth placed League One side in a head to head tie to determine promotion/relegation.
