ABOUT FA Cup
The Scottish FA Cup – or otherwise known as the Scottish Cup – is an annual knockout competition.
The Cup is open to all 98 members of the Scottish FA plus up to eight clubs who are associate members of the football association.
Clubs enter the competition at different stages. League rankings are used to determine when teams can enter.
Lowest ranked clubs, for instance, enter the competition at the preliminary stage. Scottish Premiership clubs, on the other hand, enter in the fourth round.
The winner of each round progresses in the competition however, if a game ends in a draw, it goes to a replay at a later date and at the home of the opponent. Replays don’t take place in the semi-finals or the final which in the case of a draw are determined by extra time and a penalty shoot-out.
The Scottish Cup is the second oldest football competition in the world, second only to the English FA Cup.
